How this tool works
Choose the port type on your switch and the module or cable you want to use. The checker applies the common rules for port size and speed, then lists what else to confirm: the same fiber type and wavelength at both ends, and any brand coding. It cannot test your exact firmware, so send us the model for a final check.
Common questions
Can an SFP+ module go in an SFP port?
It fits physically, but an SFP port only runs 1G, so a 10G SFP+ module will not work there. The other way round, an SFP in an SFP+ port usually works at 1G.
What is vendor locking?
Some manufacturers check a code inside the module and reject other brands. Coded modules solve this, and some switches have a setting that allows third-party optics.
Does a QSFP28 port accept QSFP+ modules?
Usually yes, at 40G, but the port speed may need to be set by hand. Confirm with the exact switch model.
